Abstract

The objective of this experimental study is to develop a single optimization method for lower surface roughness and maximum metal removal rate in terms of process parameters while carrying out CNC turning operation. The machining parameters which are controllable for this operation included spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut and developed a relationship between them to get minimum surface finish and maximum MRR. Taguchi orthogonal array, S/N ratio and ANOVA were employed to study the performance characteristics in the CNC turning of EN 354 alloy steel using CNMG 120408 GT cutting tool to find out the optimum level which affects the cutting parameters on surface roughness and MRR. Experiments have been conducting using L9 orthogonal array on a STALLION 100 HS CNC turning machine. The MINITAB–17 software was used to analysis the responses. The machining parameters are varied to investigate their effect on output responses. Results of this study indicate that the cutting speed has the most significant factor followed by feed rate on both responses.

Abstract

Metal matrix composites (MMCs) combine a stiff but brittle phase, typically a ceramic, with a more ductile metal matrix. The correct fractional combination of materials can result in a material with improved stiffness, creep resistance, yield stress and wear resistance relative to the monolithic matrix.LM25 is mainly used where good mechanical properties are required in castings of shape or dimensions requiring an alloy of excellent cast ability in order to achieve the desired standard of soundness. The alloy is also used where resistance to corrosion is an important consideration, particularly where high strength is also required. It has good weld ability. Consequently, LM25 finds application in the food, chemical, marine, electrical and many other industries and, above all, in road transport vehicles where it is used for wheels, cylinder blocks and heads, and other engine and body castings Aluminium LM06 is suitable for most marine 'on deck' castings, watercooled manifolds and jackets, motor car and road transport fittings, thin section and intricate castings such as motor housings, meter cases and switch boxes, for a very large aluminum casting, e.g. cast doors and panels where ease of casting is essential, for chemical and dye industry castings, e.g. pump parts, and for paint industry and food and domestic castings. It is especially suitable for castings that are to be welded. The main objective of the present work is to manufacture the metal matrix composites, weld using GTAW. The acceptable weld bead shape depends on factors such as power, ampere rating which is the heat energy supplied by an arc to the base plate per unit length of weld, welding speed, joint preparation, etc. To do these precise relationships between the process parameters and the bead parameters controlling the bead shape are to be established. In this project we will be made many attempts for made test pieces to predict the process parameter of TIG for getting maximum weld element, best mechanical properties and maximize weld deposition. The planned experiments are conducted in the TIG are welding machine; the test piece examination is carried out by following process.

Abstract

Waveform Compression is a field of digital signal processing that focuses on reducing byte-rate and sample rate of waveform speech signals to increase transmission speed and storage capacity in multimedia devices. This paper explores resampling methodology for compressing the speech signal of wave file format. Resampling methodology is based on removing unessential samples from input waveform signal. In resampling method, channel bandwidth is utilised properly by reducing the byte rate and sample rate, which results in compression and thus, increasing the transmission speed and storage capacity. A major objective of waveform speech compression is to represent a speech signal with few bits that satisfies the level of wave file quality. The results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in the field of data compression.

Abstract

this paper presents an exact method for real power loss allocation to consumers connected to radial distribution networks in a deregulated environment. The proposed method has the advantage that no assumptions are made in the allocation of real power losses as opposed to the algorithms available in the literature. A detailed comparison of the real loss allocation obtained with the proposed ‘Exact method ‘with two alternative algorithms, namely, pro rata (PR), and quadratic loss allocation schemes are presented. Pro rata procedure is based on the load demand of each consumer, quadratic allocations are based on identifying the real and reactive parts of current in each branch and the losses are allocated to each consumer, and the proposed ‘exact method’ is based on the actual contribution of real power loss by each consumer. A case study based on 30 node distribution system is provided.

Abstract

Swarm intelligence is one of the hot nature inspired techniques that is being used in the many areas of research to optimization the solution of computational problems. In this paper, we have considered swarm intelligence based techniques for remote sensing image classification. Remotely Sensed images are the images captured by satellite. The swarm intelligence based techniques considered for the analytical study of the remote sensing image classification are Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Artificial Bee Colony Optimization (ABC), Cuckoo Search (CS), Biogeography Based Optimization (BBO), hybrid ACO/BBO, hybrid CS/PSO, hybrid CS/ACO and hybrid ABC/BBO. The accuracy assessment parameter taken for the review results are kappa coefficient, user’s accuracy, producer’s accuracy and overall accuracy. The review is being done on the dataset of Alwar, Rajasthan. The main goal of this paper is to present an analytical review on the existing swarm intelligence based techniques for the classification of remote sensing images.

Abstract

Security of confidential information has always been a major issue from the past times to the present time. It has always been the interested topic for researchers to develop secure techniques to send data without revealing it to anyone other than the receiver. Therefore from time to time researchers have developed many techniques.to fulfill secure transfer of data and steganography is one of them. Steganography is the art and science of communicating in a way which hides the existence of the communication. Important information is firstly hidden in a host data, such as digital image, text, video or audio, etc, and then transmitted secretly to the receiver The main aim in steganography is to hide the very existence of the message in the cover medium. Steganography and cryptography are counter parts in digital security. The obvious advantage of steganography over cryptography is that messages do not attract attention to themselves, to messengers, or to recipients. Also, the last decade has seen an exponential growth in the use of multimedia data over the Internet.These include Digital Images, Audio and Video files. This rise of digital content on the internet has further accelerated the research effort devoted to steganography.In the current work we are going to present the different aspects and reviews on stegnography , that has been completed and studied by different authors.

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite [HAp, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2], a well-known mineral component and chemically similar to inorganic constituent of bone and teeth, possess good osteoconduction and osseointegration properties. Bio inspired lightweight materials such as cuttlebone and eggshell are rich in CaCO3. Since they possess good permeability, porosity and compressive strength much interest are shown in orthodontics and orthopedic applications. Several attempts had been made to synthesize HAp from cuttlebone and eggshell. The aim of the study is to synthesize a biocomposite materials with a blend of cuttlebone and eggshell HAp by a simple wet chemical method. The newly formed composite showed a good crystalline nature. The presence of calcium phosphate in HAp is confirmed by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analyses. Mold prepared by solvent/solution casting method showed appreciable compressive strength and porosity (80-85%). Further, invitro biocompatibility studies were done with MG-63 osteoblast cells.

Abstract

In this paper, we have proposed efficient bus encoder for crosstalk avoidance in RLC modelled interconnects. In past years many encoding methods have been proposed which dealt with only RC modelled VLSI inter-connects.Due to fast clock speeds, longer length of on-chip interconnects and smaller signal rise times, the on-chip inductive effects have increased for the deep submicron technologies (DSM). All these factors raises the overall concern for crosstalk, propagation delay and power dissipation. Therefore, this research paper introduces an efficient Bus Encoder by the help of Bus Inverting (BI) technique. Proposed design reduces both crosstalk delay and area in the RLC modelled interconnects which makes the circuit design suitable for current high-speed low power VLSI interconnects. The proposed work shows an overall reduction of crosstalk delay by 17.54% and area efficiency by 28.57%.

Abstract

Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks are autonomous and decentralized wireless systems. MANETs consist of mobile nodes that are free in moving in and out in the network. Nodes are the systems or devices i.e. mobile phone, laptop, personal digital assistance, MP3 player and personal computer that are participating in the network and are mobile. These nodes can act as host/router or both at the same time. They can form arbitrary topologies depending on their connectivity with each other in the network. These nodes have the ability to configure themselves and because of their self configuration ability, they can be deployed urgently without the need of any infrastructure. Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has MANET working group (WG) that is devoted for developing IP routing protocols. Routing protocols is one of the challenging and interesting research areas. Many routing protocols have been developed for MANETS, i.e. AODV, OLSR, DSR etc. A simulation study of the effects of flooding attack on the performance of the AODV routing protocol is presented using random waypoint mobility model .The simulation environment is implemented by using the NS-3 network simulator. It is observed that due to the presence of such malicious nodes, average percentage of packet loss in the network, average routing overhead and average bandwidth requirement− all increases, thus degrading the performance of MANET significantly.

Abstract

We propose a Photonic crystal fiber with smaller air hole in the first ring of cladding. Finite element method is used to design and investigate the properties like mode coupling between excited modes and fundamental mode along with effective mode area and dispersion. Almost zero flattened dispersion from 1.3 to 2.0 THz is seen in this model and effective mode area 3.80E-01 mm2 of HE11 fundamental mode at 220 µm is achieved.

Abstract

Multibiometric systems imitate the unification of two or more unimodal biometric systems. Such systems are predicted to be more sound due to the residence of multiple independent pieces of evidence. Hence they sign in at unparalleled levels of security. In this paper, multimodal biometrics which is a combination of iris and fingerprint is presented. Comparing to other biometrics, iris recognition is having low false acceptance rate. Various fusion techniques of iris and fingerprint with advantages and limitations are discussed.

Abstract

There is increasing pressure to share health information and even make it publicly available. However, such disclosures of personal health information raise serious privacy concerns. To alleviate such concerns, it is possible to anonymize the data before disclosure. One popular anonymization approach is k-anonymity. There have been no evaluations of the actual re-identification probability of k-anonymized data sets. Through a simulation, we evaluated the re-identification risk of k-anonymization and three different improvements on three large data sets. Re-identification probability is measured under two different re-identification scenarios. Information loss is measured by the commonly used discernability metric. For one of the re-identification scenarios, k-Anonymity consistently over-anonymous data sets, with this over-anonymization being most pronounced with small sampling fractions. Over-anonymization results in excessive distortions in the data (i.e., high information loss), making the data less useful for subsequent analysis. We found that a hypothesis testing approach provided the best control over re-identification risk and reduces the extent of information loss compared to baseline kanonymity. Guidelines are provided on when to use the hypothesis testing approach instead of baseline k-anonymity.

Abstract

In this paper, a multimodal biometric system which combines features of face, fingerprint and iris to overcome numerous limitations of unimodal biometric systems is presented. The quality of face, fingerprint and iris images are firstly enhanced using a series of pre-processing techniques such segmentation, normalization etc. Then the features of all these three traits are extracted from the pre-processed images. This approach has been tested on a Casia database consisting of 90 images and shows promising results as compared to other techniques.
