Abstract

If Sevgi Soysal’s stories are evaluted within the framework of their general characteristics, it will be seen that since “the Passionate Lock of Hair”, each of them has a different structure. Her first stories are not conventional episodic stories. In these stories, the themes are Ioneliness, boredom and depression, but the main theme is women. The stories in “the Passionate Lock of Hair” are seen as reflections of a changing inner-world. With regard to structure and ficton, Soysal’s second book “Tante Rosa” is different form her other Works of art. The book is written in the style of a conventional story. The hero/protagonist of this book is a woman, like it is in “ the Passionate Lock of Hair”. Stories begin and end with Tante Rosa. Therefore, these stories are in choronological order. In addition to “Tante Rosa1, the author’s third book “Child Named Peace” is a conventional episodic story, as well. Every thema is based on an event. These events happen within a specific time and place. Four of these stories have some biographic elements. Most of these events occur after 12 March 1971 and these can be seen as the reflections of the change in the author’s views. The direction of this change may be defined as form”I”to “we” , form “individual” to “society”. In her three stories, the iner world of the women characters and their conflicts with the society, in which they live, and their depressions and their dilemmas are told though their her eyes
