TURKISH PROVERBS IN TURKISH-PERSIAN LANGUAGE TEACHING BOOK THAT WRITTEN IN EGYPT IN THE 19TH CENTURY*

Abstract

In 1274 (Hegirae), 15th of Cemaziyelevvel (1st of January 1858), there were not any information found after the search on the sources about the book named “Kitâbu Tercümân fi’l-Lügati’l-Fârisiyye ve’t-Türkiyye ve’l-Arabiyye” that written by the man who called as Ali Rıza. It published as lithography from author’s own mauscript in 1901. This edition placed on Iran at “Kitâbhâne-i Meclis-i Şûrâ-yı İslâmî” on “Gulâm Hüseyin Served” collection. äThis book confused with “Kitâb-ı Tercümân-ı Türkî ve Arabî ve Fârisî” on several publications. This mistake has distinguished on a study about mentioned book carried out by us. Even though this book’s author was not certain but the author of “Kitâbu Tercüman fi’l-Lügati’l-Fârisiyye ve’t-Türkiyye ve’l-Arabiyye” was certain and the author of the lithography that we used, identified on records as “Ali Rıza”. Another lithographic copy besides this edition has not received yet. Ali Rıza tells us about himself on his own book. The author, who lived in Egypt, followed a method like acquaint the prosody, abjad and even poetic forms as a part of language teaching on his book about Turkish-Persian Teaching to Arabs. Besides this subjects by a associated vision to language teaching and education, sentence examples in “el- Emsâli Fârisiyye Nesren” and “el- Emsâli Arabiyye” etc. And approximately 200 Turkish proverbs in “el-Emsâli Türkiyye” has given by the author. In our opinion some of these proverbs are not known generally. On this paper after a introduction about general features of the work that includes 64 topics and 180 pages, will be transferred six-page of the book that includes Turkish proverbs from the Arabic alphabet to the Latin alphabet.
