Lingua-pragmatic characteristic of children’ animated cartoon

Abstract

The paper presents the lingua-pragmatic characteristic of the Ukrainian spoken literary language in contemporary children’s cartoon movie. It is the study of children’s cartoon movie in terms of lingua-pragmatics that reveals the main moments of its attraction on the one hand and the linguistic and stylistic techniques and tools, reflecting the conceptual time-spatial markers of the modernity and the pragmatics of social behavior on the other hand. Language of the characters has been differentiated by the socio-cultural and situational pragmatic plans with specific valuable, socio-role, cultural-linguistic characteristics. The role of the pastiche in creating of animated dialogues, its focus on the routine home practice and specific oral communication units has been identified. The pragmatic potential of the lexicon and stereotypical expressions in the language of children’s cartoons has been distinguished. The emphasis was made on the words and expressions that mark the social status of the play-characters and creature-characters with inherent fixed stereotypical patterns of language behaviour of representatives of different social layers, i.e., youth, teenagers, as well as psychotypes of lumpenized part of the society. It has been noted that such lexicon denoted the lingua-psychological symbol of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, and the influence of such aesthetics of «easy-going» communication on the younger generation is worth talking about. The interaction between the proper language material in the animated dialogues and extralingual components, i.e. gestures, facial expressions, phrase’s rhetorical manner, as well as the awareness of the legal bases for certain actions of the characters has been analyzed. It has been admitted that the lingua-pragmatic potential of the contemporary children’s cartoon movie encompasses occasionalisms, the phenomena of enantiosemia, image-evaluating secondary nominations, and transformed phraseological units. It has been noted that the jargon phenomena are becoming more actively expressed in the language of the contemporary animation, and the role of slang words as the means of stylization of current lingual environment and social roles is strengthening. Evidently, lingua-pragmatics of children’s cartoon movies is formed by the contexts containing the socio-cultural characteristics, as well as the play on situational meanings, including culturally significant ones.
