Towards an augmented reality guiding system for assisted indoor remote vehicle navigation
Journal Title: EAI Endorsed Transactions on Industrial Networks and Intelligent Systems - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Scientific facilities usually require the use of vehicles controlled remotely by an operator relying on the information provided by a camera. However, the operator lacks of depth perception, which makes difficult the navigation. Providing additional information by means of Augmented Reality (AR) may enhance the safety and accuracy of the navigation. AR has been used in outdoor navigation systems. However, the technologies for outdoor systems cannot be directly ported to indoor environments and hence new techniques are required. Although several works for AR-based human indoor navigation have been proposed, to our best knowledge there are no similar studies for assisted indoor remote vehicle navigation. In this paper, a new prototype for assisted indoor remote vehicle navigation is proposed. The prototype provides the operator with an augmented view of the remote scene and complemented with additional features. The prototype has been tested in a small-scale setup with promising results.

Comparative Study on Power Gating Techniques for Lower Power Delay Product, Smaller Power Loss, Faster Wakeup Time
The power gating is one of the most popular reduction leakage techniques. We make comparison among various power gating schemes in terms of power delay product, energy loss, and wake-up time using the 45-nm Predictive Te...
Controlling Sensitivity of Gaussian Bayes Predictions based on Eigenvalue Thresholding
Gaussian Bayes classifiers are widely used in machine learning for various purposes. Its special characteristic has provided a great capacity for estimating the likelihood and reliability of individual classification dec...
Linking Data According to Their Degree of Representativeness (DoR)
This contribution addresses the problem of extracting some representative data from complex datasets and connecting them in a directed graph. First we define a degree of representativeness (DoR) inspired of the Borda vot...
Flexible Fixtures for CNC Machining Centers in Multiproduct Manufacturing
In modern manufacturing engineering, a major challenge is the contradiction between the need to reduce the time required to design and manufacture the products and the increasing complexity of product design. Today's mar...
