ABSTRACT

Introducción: El consumo de alimentos ricos en grasa y/o azúcares es un factor que influye en el aumento de peso, así como en el desarrollo de enfermedades crónicas como obesidad, enfermedades cardiovasculares, etc. México figura entre los países cuya población consume más alimentos ricos en grasa y azúcares, y por consiguiente, dentro de los países líderes en personas con obesidad. Metodología: Se emplearon 16 ratas Wistar machos divididas en 4 grupos: un grupo control al que se le suministraron agua natural y comida regular; un grupo “azúcar” al que se le suministró comida regular, y elegían beber agua natural o agua azucarada (8%); un grupo “grasas” al que se le suministró agua natural, comida regular junto con 30 gr de grasa de tocino, y un grupo “azúcar-grasa” al que se le suministró comida regular, 30 gr de grasa de tocino, y a elegir agua natural o agua azucarada (8%). Se determinó la cantidad de alimento y agua consumida diariamente y se midieron los cambios de peso. Resultados: Se encontró una diferencia significativa en el incremento del peso del grupo “grasas”, comparada con los grupos “azúcar” y “azucar-grasa”. Conclusiones: Aparentemente, las ratas con capaces de realizar un ajuste calórico con los alimentos que disponen, siempre y cuando no hayan sido expuestas a alimentos “adictivos”. En corto plazo, el consumo de grasas y azúcares juntos no mostró un aumento considerable en el peso de las ratas, a pesar de que ambos son ricos en calorías. --- Introduction: The consumption of foods rich in fat and / or sugars is a factor that influences the weight gain, as well as the development of chronic diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases, etc. Mexico is among the countries whose population consumes more foods rich in fat and sugar, and therefore, within the leading countries in people with obesity. Methodology: 16 male Wistar rats divided into 4 groups were used: a control group that was supplied with natural water and regular food; a "sugar" group that was given regular food, and they chose to drink natural water or sugar water (8%); a "fats" group that was supplied with natural water, a regular meal together with 30 g of bacon fat, and a "sugar-fat" group that was given regular food, 30 g of bacon fat, and to choose water natural or sugar water (8%). The amount of food and water consumed daily was determined and the changes in weight were measured. Results: A significant difference was found in the weight increase of the "fats" group, compared with the "sugar" and "sugar-fat" groups. Conclusions: Apparently, rats are able to make a caloric adjustment with the foods they have, as long as they have not been exposed to "addictive" foods. In the short term, the consumption of fats and sugars together did not show a considerable increase in the weight of the rats, even though both are rich in calories.
