MALOCLUSIONES EN ESTUDIANTES DEL NIVEL SECUNDARIO, LEYMEBAMBA, PERU, 2019

Abstract

Objective: To determine the malocclusions in secondary level students in the city of Leymebamba, during 2019. Material and methods: 503 secondary level students from the “San Agustín” Educational Institution were evaluated. Quantitative, descriptive, observational parameters were used methodologically according to the intervention of the researcher, prospective according to the planning of data collection, cross-sectional because the number of occasions on which it was measured occurred in a single opportunity and because a single variable was univariate analysis. To collect data, a data record card prepared for the present investigation was used as an instrument. Results: it was obtained that 41.4% was Class I, followed by Class III in 35.8%. According to their ages, they presented higher percentages of Class III at the ages of 12, 13 and 19 years, with 55%, 44.3% and 60% respectively. The ages of 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 presented mainly Class I malocclusion in 44.3%, 50%, 44.9%, 52.4% and 42.8% respectively. Finally, according to gender, we found that schoolchildren from 1st to 5th grade of men had a prevalence of Class III with 44%, and in women Class I predominated in 47.4%. Conclusion: Leymebamba secondary school students present mainly Class I Angle malocclusion, but a large percentage have Class III.
