A PADE Based Model Order Reduction of Linear Dynamic Systems Using Invasive Weed Optimization

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 11, Issue 1

Abstract

Practically, most of physical systems have complex high order models. This complexity imposes major difficulties in analysis, simulation and control designs. Model reduction is an approach for decreasing the computational complexity of mathematical models in numerical simulations. This paper presents a new model order reduction technique based on optimizing the Pade rational approximator based on the invasive weed optimization algorithm to solve the complex model reduction problems with no analytical solutions and also to achieve a global optimized reduced order models. The system numerator and denominator polynomial coefficients of the reduced order model are achieved by minimizing the norm 2 error of the step response between the original system and the reduced order system using invasive weed optimization algorithm. Two numerical examples are performed to illustrate the system superiority over some other popular algorithms like GA and PSO.
