A LAS CIENCIAS SOCIALES SE LES MODIFICÓ EL OBJETO DE ESTUDIO

Abstract

This article explores the challenging scenario that concerns social sciences like no other field of knowledge in relation to the involving and wide phenomenon of globalization, which generates new realities on a world scale in humans’ interrelations. Hence, some efforts that are made in the academic field are examined in the pursuit of new concepts, categories and reasonings to make them more efficient to apprehend, process and explain the changing dynamics, very common nowadays. The paradox of flow and counterflow process, which has started a current debate, is referred in this article. The complexity of the events that occur in a transforming scenario, that is peculiar because it happens as never before with special emphasis, and due to the technological innovation, in the most human of human actions: communication, is also examined. It is recommended a review of intellectual tradition in this matter, as well as a progress during the course of resignification of categories, concepts and theoretical models, in order to efficiently assess the characteristic dynamic of a reality irruption at its peak.
