ABOUT PERSONALITY-DEVELOPING CONTENT OF TEACHING INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

Abstract
The article deals with personal-development approach to learning intercultural communication. The key terms of personal-development approach are dened such as personality, psychological structure of the personality and abilities. The principles of the approach described are given. The basis of the structure of the personality and its components are described. The author singles out self-awareness, orientation of the person (in the needs, interests, ideals, beliefs, motives activities, behavior and outlook), temperament and character, mental processes and states, abilities and inclinations, psychic experience of the person (shown in temperament and character). The author makes the particular emphasis to the educational aspect of foreign language education which involves gaining experience emotionally, evaluative attitude towards foreign language learner’s reality concerning their feelings, emotions, mental processes. All this leads to the sociocultural training of the qualities required in order to achieve mutual understanding with foreign language companion. The author makes emphases to the purpose of the training as to cultivate the qualities of sociocultural sensitivity and sociocultural politeness. The content of the selected sociocultural qualities is considered and described in details. Sociocultural sensitivity allows distinguishing between universal and national-specic interlocutor in the foreign language. Sociocultural politeness helps to respect the values of foreign language culture and to respect the rules of foreign language communicative behavior in the process of interaction with other cultures.
