Can Strict Control of Renalase Present a New Treatment Alternative in Regulating Blood Pressure?
Journal Title: Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiology - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
Blood pressure is the pressure the blood in arteries applies on vessels. Abnormal blood pressure is a major public health problem commonly encountered in the population with normal blood pressure and intensive care patients. The two types of action that the heart performs are pumping blood and relaxing. The pressure exerted when the heart is pumping blood is the “systolic” blood pressure, and the pressure applied during the relaxation of the heart is the “diastolic” pressure.

Historical Evolution of Surgery for Transposition of Great Arteries (TGA)
The history of surgery for transposition of great arteries (TGA) has paralleled the history of cardiac surgery. In fact, it began before the birth of open heart surgery when the palliative Blalock-Hanlon septectomy was f...
Large Thrombotic Coronary Artery Aneurysm Treated With a Covered Stent Using OCT for Procedural Guidance
Coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) is an uncommon finding in patients undergoing a coronary angiography, with an incidence of less than 5% [1]. CAA is defined as coronary dilation of more than 1,5 times the adjacent vessel d...
Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in Heart Failure: Rationale, Results, Indications, Limits and Perspectives
Heart Failure is the result of heterogeneous structural heart diseases, especially ischemic disease, and is becoming increasingly common in all Western countries. Many patients continue to be symptomatic in spite of prog...
Cardiac Contractility Modulation Device and Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Combination: A New Hope for Heart Failure Patients with Low Ejection Fraction and Narrow QRS Complex
Background: Heart failure (HF) is a common cardiovascular disease with high rates of morbidity and mortality despite advances in medical and device-related management. Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM) is a promisi...
Sacubitril/Valsartan versus enalapril in nonischemic heart failure in Paradigm-Hf trial
Background: We compared the angiotensin receptor–neprilysin inhibitor LCZ696 (sacubitril/valsartan) with enalapril in patients who had nonischemic heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction. Methods: In this double-...
