Correction of Acute Sagittal Plane Angular Deformity of Bilateral Tibia in a Case of Osteogenesis Imperfecta using Limb Reconstruction System
Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Medical Research - Year 2016, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Introduction: Osteogenesis imperfecta is a genetic connective tissue disorder characterized by formation of brittle bones prone to develop fractures and deformities of limbs. Correction of deformity and bone union remains a challenge in such cases. Case report: Herein we present a case of severe congenital angular deformity of bilateral tibia in anteroposterior plane in a 7 year old girl suffering from osteogenesis imperfecta. She was not able to stand and walk since birth. We treated her successfully by single stage procedure of corrective osteotomy and its fixation with limb reconstruction system (LRS) bilaterally. Conclusion: External fixation using LRS greatly reduces frequency of fractures and facilitates bone healing effectively in cases of osteogenesis imperfecta. LRS is a excellent tool for correction of deformities in case of osteogenesis imperfecta.

Comparative Study of Rocuronium Bromide and Succinylcholine Chloride for Endotracheal Intubation During General Anesthesia
Introduction: Rocuronium has a rapid onset of neuromuscular blockade like succinylcholine without the latter’s adverse effects and can substitute succinylcholine. Aim is to compare intubating conditions and haemodynamic...
Intravascular Catheter-Related Infections in Haemodialysis Patients in an Indian Tertiary Care Hospital
Introduction: Haemodialysis patients are more vulnerable to infections. Compared to permanent vascular access that is arterio-venous fistula or graft, intravenous Catheter related infections are more common. So we analys...

Effect of Combined Thoracic Epidural with General Anaesthesia vs General Anaesthesia alone on Intraoperative Hemodynamics and Postoperative Analgesia Requirement in Abdominal Surgeries
Introduction: The combined use of epidural and general anaesthesia provides better intraoperative hemodynamics and reduces the requirement of general anaesthetics by blocking the noxious stimulus originating from the sur...
