Determination of Different Organic Plant Nutrition Elements on Seed Yield and Quality of Çengelköy Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)
Journal Title: ÇOMÜ Ziraat Fakültesi Dergisi - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
Applying commercial organic fertilizers are increasing day by day. However, the effects of these fertilizers on plant growth and development must be determined. In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of different organic plant nutrients on seed yield and quality in organically grown Çengelköy Cucumber 5802 cultivar. Study was conducted with four replications according to the randomized blocks design, with 20 plants per parcel out in Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute. Solid organic fertilizer (Biofarm, AKC, Vermicompost) liquid organic fertilizer (Gentasol) was used as organic plant nutrient in the study. Fertilizers were given to the basin to compensate for half of this amount, based on the amount of nitrogen needed for the soil. The other half was completed with liquid organic fertilizer throughout the production season. Seed fruit number (unit/plant), seed fruit length (cm), seed fruit width (cm), and seed plant weight (g) parameters were examined to determine the effects of organic plant nutirents. In addition; seed number per gram (unit), 1000 seed weight (g), germination rate (%) and seed yield per decare (kg/da) determined. As a result, there was a statistical difference in were found seed yield values between applications. Seed yields were obtained as; Gentasol (26.12 kg da-1), Vermicompost (22.98 kg da-1), Biofarm (19.32 kg da-1) and AKC (17.80 kg da-1) respectively. Furthermore no statistical significant difference was observed in plant and seed fruit measurements.
