Evaluation in two agroecosystems of the behavior of papaya vitroplants cv Maradol roja
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2003, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
Papaya plants (Carica papaya L.) cv Maradol Roja, obtained by in vitro culture (3rd and 12th subculture), and control plants spread by the traditional way, were planted in two agroecosystems. When evaluating the obtained results, in both agroecosystems it could be observed that the characters which differed statistically were: percentages of feminine and hermaphrodite flowers, percentages of feminine and hermaphrodite fruits, height of the first fruits, weight of the fruits and yields per plant and per hectare, with a better behavior in the plants obtained in vitro . The plants, in both agroecosystems, expressed a good agronomic behavior.

Strategy for in vitro propagation of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni
In vitro multiplication of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni has been described previously in different reference sources. However, the implication of the investigations carried out in the productive scale processes is not info...
Effect of gamma radiation on potato variety ‘Desirée’ calli
The present investigation was developed with the objective to determine the effect of gamma radiation on potato variety ‘Desirée’ calli to induce variability. Calli obtained from leaves of in vitro plants were irradiate...
In vitro establishment of the hybrid rootstock ‘Garfi x Nemared’ (Garnem) for peach
The interspecific hybrid between almond and peach, ‘Garfield x Nemared’ (Prunus dulcis (Mill) D.A.Webb x Prunus persica (L.) Batsch.) has become very important as rootstocks for peach in Bolivia, but propagation by tra...
Effect of 60Co gamma radiation on plant regeneration of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cultivar 'ICA Pijao' via indirect organogenesis
In Phaseolus vulgaris L. breeding programs has been used mutation induction, however, no radiosensitivity studies have been performed in vitro in order to define the optimal dose of radiation to be applied. The aim of...
Production of taxoids in callus and cell suspensions of Taxus chinensis through the use of abiotic elicitors
Until now, several strategies have been developed to improve the production of secondary metabolites using plant cell cultures, manipulating the parameters of the environment, selecting high yielding cell clones and the...
