Factors associated with the presence of anemia in boys and girls from 1 to 5 years old

Abstract

Introduction:Anemia is one of the main Public Health problems, considered one of the leading causes of morbidity worldwide, where the prevalence in preschool children is 4 out of every 10 children. Objective:Determine the factors associated with the presence of anemia in boys and girls from 1 to 5 years old Materials and methods:The methodology consisted of being a bibliographic -documentary research, with a quantitative, cross-sectional approach. Taking into consideration the population of the Totoras community located in the Alausí canton, taking as a sample 100 boys and girls from 1 to 5 years of age, forming a finite, non-probabilistic sample. Results:It was found that anemia in children is marked since the mother is in the pregnancy period, taking into account that the process of taking vitamins has been satisfactory, because 63% indicate having consumed iron during the pregnancy. pregnancy, however, with regard to nutrition, they indicate that only 4% of children have access to the five recommended daily meals.It was also verified that what children consume most are carbohydrates. Conclusion:it was determined that in relation to weight for age, 15% of 20 children have delays in their weight, in relation to their height for age we have 74% of boys and girls from 1 to 5 years old, remembering is difficult recover the height of this group, if a timely intervention is not carried out before 24 months
