The study covered large sport facilities with many sports disciplines covered by the Healthy Stadia Program. Information on nutrition policy and food (including alcohol) offered on-site sports, on promotion of active recreation at the community level, antismoking campaigns, mental health care, environmental care was collected. Results from 88 European sports facilities were incorporated into the study. Polish stadia were represented by 10 facilities. Some kind of antismoking campaigns for health promotion (prohibition of smoking or selling tobacco, etc) were run in over half of examined stadia. In almost one fifth of objects healthy eating was promoted (anti-alcohol policy as well) while in over 1/3 environmental protection was promoted. Some 47% of the facilities covered by the surveyed propagated active recreation in the local community while and 32% supported positive mental health of em ployees and guests respectively.Polish and European sports stadia still too rarely engage in activities aimed at promotion of healthy lifestyle, protection of the environmental and elimination of social inequalities in local community.
