Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 7

Abstract

Identity is a very simple word but with a very complex concept. With entering the cultural elements from other countries, especially Western countries, culture and then identity of the Iranian society has changed, so today the debate about identity and culture in various branches of science are considered. Since one of the ways of verifying the identity of the community is considering the elements of space and its relationship to society culture, studying the identity elements in the traditional architectural of Iran seems to be a proper wayto identify the identity of the Iranian traditional society. The permeability in the culture of Iranian and Islamic architectureis among the topics emphasized that HishamMorteza addressed it in his book "traditional principles of constructionin Islam". In this study, a descriptive-analytical method is used, and then two types of physical and visual permeability will be studied. The results show the presence of an intrinsic deterrent factor in individuals, the distinction between public and private spacespermeability, the type of activity current in space and adherence to religious rituals are among the effective factors in creating the desired pattern of identity based on permeability.
