Ilia Czawczawadze i krąg literackich związków polsko-gruzińskich w XIX wieku

Abstract
Ilia Čavčavadze (1837–1907) was one of the most prominent national activists present in the cultural and social life of Georgia in the second half of the 19th century. A poet, novelist, dramatist, literary critic, thinker, historian, publicist, publisher, politician and ideologist of the national liberation movement played an important role in acquainting Georgian readers with the work of the most prominent representatives of the classics of Polish literature. Te frst Georgian translations of prose by Bolesław Prus, Eliza Orzeszkowa, Henryk Sienkiewicz and others appeared on the pages of “Iveria” he used to be the editor of. Te article proves that Čavčavadze’s contribution to the development of Polish-Georgian literary relations in the 19th century remains signifcant.
