Abstract

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the few European countries that have recently adopted their new, consti tuti on and procedural laws that are used to regulate the criminal proceedings in a fundamentally diff erent way. The tendencies of contemporary science of criminal procedural law and resoluti ons of contemporary comparati ve criminal procedural legislati on in the terms of creati ng the normati ve basis for increasing the effi ciency of the criminal proceedings have been placed, quite justi fi ably, in the criminal procedural legislati on of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Within a number of measures taken with the aim of increasing effi ciency of criminal proceedings, a special case belongs to the simplifi ed forms of procedure in criminal cases. In that context, a systemati c reform of the criminal procedural legislati on was executed, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in its enti ti es and the Brcko District BiH, which has opened a completely new approach to criminal proceedings, in which the emphasis is not only on enhancing the protecti on of basic human rights and freedom, but also on the effi ciency of the procedure.
