La incorporación de las redes sociales a la práctica periodística: el caso de Twitter

Abstract
This article analyses the reasons why journalists and the media should be active in Twitter, as well as the advantages and drawbacks of its professional usage. Several strategies to make the most of this social media are discussed: as a journalistic source, by following opinion trends, getting news about particular events or crisis management. The credibility and trust of the news gathered through Twitter are also evaluated. The methodology is based on the research of both academic and professional publications which deal with these issues that shape communication in the social media.
