Abstract
Toponymy is the discipline that studies proper nouns of place. These nouns hide a great deal of valuable information for different academic fields History, Geography, Economics…), especially for those related to the Human History. This article analyses the different toponymic theories about the origin and meaning of the names of Murcia, Calasparra, Moratalla and some places that can be found in these last two municipalities: the Cagitán field, Benizar, Benamor, El Villar and the river Alhárabe.
