A REVIEW: TRANSUNGAL DRUG DELIVERY A NEW AND NOVEL SYSTEM

Abstract

 ABSTRACT The Nail preparations are widely used in cosmetic preparations for enhancing the beauty of nails. Conventional nail lacquers generally consist of solvents, film forming polymers, resins and plasticizers. These Nail lacquers formulations contain drugs to cure topical diseases; pharmaceutically they are called as Transungal delivery system. Many antifungal drugs such as Econazole, Amorolfine, Urea, Tazarotene, Sertaconazol Nitrate, Ciclopirox are used as Topical solutions and topically used for Onychomycosis, Paronychia, Psoriasis, Tinea unguis, Pseudomonas bacterial infection.These compounds are fungicidal in vitro against proliferating and dormant fungal cells, having broad spectrum of activity. The present review shows the different type of studies carried out for formulating and various factors affecting these antifungal and antimicrobials in nail lacquer. Key words: Econazole, Amorolfine, Urea, Tazarotene, Sertaconazol Nitrate.
