EROSION PROCESSES IN THE HILLY BASIN OF THE VÂLSAN. ASSESSMENT OF EROSION SPECIFIC TO TORRENTIAL BASINS

Abstract

As a consequence of deforestations and agricultural utilisation of slopes and in the absence protection, measures and works against erosion the Vâlsan Basin is subjected to intense erosion. The paper analysis the intensification of deep erosion in the big hydrographic basins and increased drainage density ensuing from it. Deep erosion is also one of the landslide triggering factors imbalancing the slopes. Looking at the present-day geomorphic processes in the Subcarpathian and Piedmont sectors of the Vâlsan Basin one finds a claise relationship between gullying and erosion values by torrential basins.
