PUBERTY AND SCROTAL CIRCUMFERENCE IN HOLSTEIN x ZEBU, ZEBU AND ROMOSINUANO BULLS

Abstract
Objetive. To establish the relationship of puberty and scrotal circunference in holstein x Zebú, Zebu and romosinuano bullls. Materials and methods. Eight male F1 Holstein x Zebu (HxC), 8 Zebu and 10 Romosinuano starting from weaning were taken. In the group HxC and Zebu during the experimentation phase, evaluation of testis size (scrotal circumference, individual longitude), corporal weight with fast of 12 hours, thoracic perimeter and cross height were made. From weaning to the 12 months of age the taking of measures was carried out each 28 days. Starting from the twelve months, sampling was made each 15 days and in each evaluation taking of semen was performed by means of an electroejaculator. Results. Statistical differences for the age to the puberty between the Zebu and the racial groups HxC and Romosinuano (p <0.0003) were presentd; being the Romosinuano race was the one from smaller age to the puberty. Futhermore, the effect of the heterosis on the age to the puberty with the racial group HxC was confirmed being the one from smaller age to the puberty. Relationship between weight and puberty were significant statistical for the three racial groups (p <0.0001), being the Zebu bulls the heaviest and the Romos ones those of lesser weight. Likewise, for the CE differences were presented between the Romosinuano and the racial groups HxC and Zebu (p <0.0045) to the puberty, being the Zebu race the one that presented the biggest values. In the racial groups HxC, Zebu and Romosinuano, so much in pre and post-puberty, the correlations among CE with age, weight, testis longitude, thoracic perimeter, cross height and croup height for Romosinuano are high (r>0.8). Conclusions. Creole Bos taurus romosinuano showed puberty at minor age than Zebu. Effect of heterosis was confirmed over the age to puberty with the ratial group HxC.
