Spain’s impact on conflict resolution processes in Latin America and Caribbean During in 2000-2016

Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of Spain’s foreign policy, connected with the sphere of security and defense in Latin America and Caribbean, in particular, with the resolution of the existing conflicts, the elimination of their consequences, and the prevention of the new disputes. In the research a special reference is made to the position of Spain’s and regional governments on such activities, the analysis of the their functioning and possible prospects of mutual cooperation. The role of EU and various international institutions and peacekeeping organizations in the region are also partially highlighted. Authors came to the conclusion about the existence of effective mechanisms between States created in order to resolve conflicts in the region and emphasized the need to enhance Spain’s image in diplomacy and peacemaking.
