Study of Factors Affecting the Guilds' Market in Fars Province by Analyzing Bank Mellat POS Transactions Using a SWOT Matrix; (Case Study: Bank Mellat of Fars Province)

Abstract

Banks play an important role in realizing the macroeconomic goals and helping to carry out strategic projects in the country. In this study, a SWOT matrix was developed so that the external and internal environment of Bank Mellat POS devices be evaluated. The statistical population of the study consisted of guilds with Bank Mellat POS devices in Fars province. To collect data for assessing the internal environment of Bank Mellat POS devices, the first questionnaire was developed using the balanced score card (BSC) model. To evaluate the external environment, the second questionnaire was developed using the failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) model for threat identification, and the success mode and effects analysis (SMEA) model was used to find the external opportunities. The proposed integrated strategies to take advantage of environmental opportunities and to mitigate threats with regard to the strengths and weaknesses of Bank Mellat POS devices were in the SO domain (6 strategies), the WO domain (5 strategies), the ST domain (4 strategies), and in the WT domain (4 strategies). Considering the strategic position of the guilds in the country and its support from Bank Mellat as a valuable opportunity, the focus of the integrated strategies was empowerment of human resources with up-to-date training in the field of banking and promotion of the system of suggestions to further influence the competitive markets of the banks and keep up current status. Furthermore, it was proposed to strengthen the internal processes of providing a diverse and modern banking and a connection to accelerated network to offer more efficient services with regard to the economic and cultural potential of the province.
