Study of Personality Types of Management Students using MBTI with respect to Gender and Specialisation

Abstract
The aim of this research paper is to analyse the various personality types of students enrolled in Management Institute in Mumbai based on MBTI instrument. When the results were analysed on the basis of gender and specialisation chosen, the results of the study clearly showed that some personality types are more prominent in some groups. It is seen from the studies that Overall ESFJ, ESTJ and ENTJ are more dominant among management student than other personality types. It was also evident that ENTJ, ESFJ and INFJ were the prominent types of the female population. While ESTJ, ESFJ and ISTJ were more prominent in the male. In Business Analytics subject female with INFJ type personality was seen. For Finance specialisation female students with ESTJ type and male students with ISTJ personality were observed. For HR specialisation female students with ESFJ type while male students with ESFJ personality type was seen. For IT specialisation female students with INFJ type and male students with ESTJ personality type were observed. Similarly, marketing specialisation was chosen by female students with ESFJ, ENTJ and ENFJ type and male students with ESFJ personality type. Operation specialisation was chosen by female students with ENTP, INFJ and INTJ type and male students with ESTJ personality type. The study further explored the various learning styles most appropriate for different groups studied. This will surely improve the mode of delivery and increase the performance and retention of different students opting various specialisations.
