Study the factors influencing rural women's participation in the sustainable management of groundwater case study Kurdistan

Abstract

Water is one of the major elements of sustainable development. To achieve sustainable development without considering the optimal management of water if not impossible would be extremely difficult. In Comprehensive system of conservation agricultural water is one of the key elements and rural women should be aware of its principles and guidelines for sustainable use. This study was conducted by survey methods, and is an applied research among the researches. The statistical population includes rural women of cities of Bijar and Ghorveh of Kurdistan province that reside in rural areas. Total of them 140 were selected by sampling (random two-stages). The questionnaire is an important technique in current research but also has been used the semi-structured interview too. The accuracy of scales and the items in the questionnaire or validity have been confirmed by specialists. To investigation studying the reliability of the tool, questionnaire was distributed among a number of rural women and the results evaluated and Cronbach's alpha was calculated the figure obtained is acceptable. The results show that the present condition of rural women's awareness about the sustainable management of groundwater is a satisfactory, but knowledge does not manifest in practice. The results of the study indicated that between ages, number of children and literacy and a significant positive relationship exists. Some recommendations to achieve sustainable development of water resources in the province are presented.
