Sylwetka ks. Teofila Boguckiego (1908-1987) – żoliborskiego proboszcza bł. ks. Jerzego Popiełuszki
Journal Title: Rocznik Kolbuszowski - Year 2018, Vol 18, Issue 18
Abstract
One of many initiators of Blessed Rev. Jerzy Popiełuszko’s pastoral work and patriotic conduct was Rev. Teofil Bogucki (7 March 1908-9 September 1987), a parish priest in the St Stanisław Kostka Parish in Żoliborz in Warsaw. It was this parish in which the Blessed was a resident and where he celebrated the famous ‘Holy Masses for Poland’. Undoubtedly no patriotic actions or services would have been possible if it had not been for the attitude of the Żoliborz parish priest, his commitment and love for his home country. He was the one who initiated ‘Holy Masses for Poland’, which he first celebrated. He also celebrated all national anniversaries, which were ignored by the communist authorities. That is why it is so necessary to outline the profile of Rev. Teofil Bogucki. He was ordained a priest in 1936. During the Warsaw Uprising, he was a chaplain of the Home Army. Rev. Bogucki was also, among other things, a dean of the Bielany deanery in the Archdiocese of Warsaw, the administrator of the St Jan Kanty Parish in Warsaw (appointed in 1952), and then in the St Stanisław Kostka Parish (appointed in 1974). He held the post of parish priest from 1980 until his death in 1987.
