The Barriers and Benefits of Implementation and Functioning of Quality Management System in Food Industry Companies

Abstract

The article presents the results of research aiming at identification of barriers and benefits of the quality management system on the stage of its implementation and functioning in food industry enterprises. The research was conducted in 31 enterprises in wielkopolskie voivodship. It was found that internal benefits are mainly actions improving enterprise in the area of procedures, competence and communication. The most important external benefit is strengthening image and growth of firm recognition as organisation consciously realising the quality policy. In turn, the barriers result mainly from the level of management and employers’ knowledge on necessary adjusting actions assuring compliance with the standard.
