Journal Title: Journal of Paramedic and Emergency Health Services - Year 2020, Vol 1, Issue 1

Abstract

The aim of this study is to measure emergency health personnel’s level of knowledge and protection about Covid-19, who work in emergency health services. The study group of this crosssectional study consists of 160 personnel who provide emergency health services. The data collection form used in this study is developed by the researchers and has three sections. 53.1% of the participants have a two-year degree, 51.9% are paramedics and 56.3% are serving in emergency health station. The participants’ frequency of changing personal protective equipment has been found 16.53 point over 25 and the average fo taking precautions after shift/work on the way to home has been found 22.81 point over 25. It is determined that the attitude point towards the information and decontamination about COVID-19 of the health personnel who work in emergency health services is high, while the level of personal and national precautions is low. It is concluded that women and people who do not have chronic diseases are more careful of the contamination precautions; changing personal protective equipment for postgraduates, paramedics and personnel who work in emergency health station is more frequent; and there is a correlation between the contamination precautions to be taken after shift/work on the way to home and the sufficiency of personal knowledge. It is suggested that a plan that is intended to change the behaviors and attitudes should be formulated in addition to the trainings which includes information about COVID-19.
