The Issue of Immigration Displaced Persons of Ukrainian Descent in Social-Political Discourse of Canada

Abstract

The issue of immigration displaced persons of Ukrainian descent in social-political discourse of Canada after the Second World War is reviewed. The circumstances and causes of the liberalization of immigration law that caused arrival of tens thousands of displaced people from camps in Western Europe are analyzed. The role of the Ukrainian Diaspora in lobbying the rights of Ukrainian refugees for resettlement to Canada is traced.
