Abstract

The present research paper is devoted to the analysis of M.V. Gogol’s creative work in the context of the influence of Ukrainian culture. The purpose of the study is to define the specificity of the representation of Ukrainian mentality and folklore in Gogol’s Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka. To achieve this purpose, the paper uses methods for obtaining the multidimensional information on the research subject. In particular, these include theoretical methods, namely the analysis of literary, artistic and methodological works on the research question. Despite the large number of studies, the theme of the characteristics of Ukrainian motifs in Gogol’s works is not fully disclosed and requires further elaboration and expansion. Therefore, the analysis of the methods and means of Ukraine’s representation by Gogol in Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka makes it possible to determine their properties and specifics. The characterization of Gogol through the prism of his love for Ukraine makes it possible to discover new sides in his creative work and personality.
