Abstract
The centenary of the Great Union of Romanians was the keystone of the 2018 cultural diplomacy programme of the Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI). The one hundred years that passed since the unification of Romania were an opportunity to draw attention to the values of national culture. Furthermore, 2018 was the European Year of Cultural Heritage, an opportunity to recall how great the need for an inclusive Europe is, a Europe for which heritage is the guarantor of the common identity. The RCI’s cultural diplomacy strategy for 2018 was, from this point of view, a success. And the inauguration of the statue of Queen Marie at Ashburn, in Great Britain, was undoubtedly the most important moment of the entire series of events dedicated to the Centenary of Modern Romania.
