ВОССТАНОВЛЕНИЕ НЕЗАВИСИМОСТИ ГРУЗИИ И ГЕОПОЛИТИЧЕСКИЕ ИНТЕРЕСЫ ТУРЦИИ В ЗАКАВКАЗЬЕ (1918 ГОД)

Abstract
The fast conquest of Batumi, Ozurgeti, the whole Meskheti and Karsi-Alexandropolis by the Turkish army convinced the Transcaucasian politicians of the futility of the struggle against Turkey. Therefore, the question of the restarting of the interrupted peace negotiations with the Turkish government was put on the agenda in Trabzon. The first official meeting of the peace conference was held on May 11, 1918. On the first meeting the Turkish part suggested the Transcaucasian delegation the agreement project, on which the further work had to be based. Transcaucasia Seim Session was held on May 26, at 12 o’clock, which confirmed the destruction of the Caucasus and declined its competence. ``Peace and Friendship`` Agreement was signed between the Democratic Republic of Georgia and Ottoman Empire Government on June 4, 1918 in Batumi ( article 12) according to which the Georgian-Turkish frontier was defined according to Russian-Turkish Frontier existing in pre-war period in 1828-1829. Namely, apart from Batumi-Karsi-Artaan districts, Turkey acquired Akhaltsikhe and Akhalkalaki Mazras.
