Abstract

For millennia, humanity has been wondering about the nature of time. From the most remote civilizations until nowadays, time has been the object of curious fascination and contemplation. However, its social existence, despite its intangibility, is increasingly present in our days. Meet deadlines, time tasks, delimit durations; daily life progressively demands an acceleration of the activities we perform, combined with the rationalization and fragmentation of becoming itself. Several contemporary authors like Elias have devoted themselves to investigating their social nature. However, they conceived it, in the abstract sense, as a symbolic convention for measuring and ordering events, disregarding the processes that lead it to assume its character of domination within bourgeois society. Thus, this article seeks an ontological rescue of time in view of the role it plays in the capitalist mode of production, whose current neoliberal context subjugates us to the uninterrupted labor rhythms of accumulation.

Abstract

Since the 1970s, several Latin American countries have started to adhere to economic policies stemming from neoliberal thinking, starting in Chile, with a greater degree of “experimentation” and in the midst of a dictatorship. Subsequently, mainly after the production of the document entitled “Washington Consensus”, this economic thought passes through an emperor in the region. Brazil, unlike Chile, was one of the last countries to practice policies based on this thought and only after the democratization process, which leads us to a question of what are the consequences of the Washington consensus in Brazil. Among the hypotheses, we have the stabilization of specific macroeconomic indices and greater economic openness. This article aims to detail the reflexes of adherence to neoliberalism in economic policy and affect these Brazilian policies.

Abstract

This paper aims to briefly show how the model of international exchange rate regime was defined shortly after World War II, as well as to analyze the main exchange rate regimes and their general methods of operation throughout the 20th century, in addition to showing part of the contribution of the thinking that was in evidence at Bretton Woods. In addition, this research aims to partially analyze the results of exchange rate variations essentially between 2009-2019, during the Dilma-Temer Governments. Furthermore, it seeks to bring part of the discussion that the exchange rate variation over the period had on the Brazilian economy.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to investigate the cultural plurality of Bon-Odori in the city of Marília / SP. Preliminarily, it’s known that this phenomenon is a ritual of Japanese origin and celebrates the spirits of the dead by the sacred circular dance. In the Midwest and Northwest cities of São Paulo, this ritual takes place in annual events organized by Japanese-Brazilian communities. Thus, the description of this ritualistic practice proved to be indispensable to capture the dynamics of its functioning system, and to understand the socio-cultural representations that compose it. Even of a foreign origin, the Bon-Odori practiced in the Midwest and Northwest of São Paulo would assume another feature due to the Nikkey culture: a symbolic system that integrates Japanese and Brazilian cultures. In a methodological point of view, the research applied a participant observation, in addition, photographs and videos of the events were necessary to understand the dances. In anthropological terms, it was concluded that in Brazil the Bon-odori is no longer a strictly Japanese phenomenon, but a Japanese-Brazilian ritual of sacred circular dance, because the ethnic-cultural differences are mixed in its social composition.

Abstract

We look, in this paper, the reception of the althusserianism as bearer of a challenge to the social theory project’s, namely, the affirmation of the partial character of all possibility of unequivocal closure to the theoretical making. This damage was, certainly, thought provoking for authors of other theorical bases. We noticed, in the present elaboration, three paradigmatic responses that worked as a reaffirmation of a basilar point for their theoretical buildings. They were answers against elements, since the beginning, present in the althusserian critic: the theoretical anti-humanism, the anti-historicism and the normative anti-teleologism. We will analyze, for that matter, the approaches of Carlos Nelson Coutinho, E. P. Thompson and Ruy Fausto, exponents of each of the perspectives mentioned above.

Abstract

Abstract

The text in question aims to outline the triple ontological criticism that marks the “Marxian turn” in the work of Karl Marx. The article seeks to define the pertinence and evolution of Marxian theory, which has been engaged from a settling of scores against the imputations of idealistic redoubts. In addition, the text demonstrates the ontological diapason of the work of the German author to the detriment of epistemological interpretations. The seminal works that we will grasp, respectively, and briefly, here are: Crítica da Filosofia do Direito de Hegel, Sobre a Questão Judaica and Manuscritos Econômico-filosóficos. These texts were produced during the years 1843 and 1844.

Abstract

This article presents the main contributions to the Social Sciences of some of the leading authors of French pragmatism. However, given the variety of authors, themes, and concepts that orbit pragmatist sociology, we chose to focus on the sociology of criticism by Luc Boltanski and Laurent Thévenot, Daniel Cefaï’s studies, and, to a lesser extent, Louis Queré’s, about problematic situations, public problems and the public arena. Thus, this brief and interested incursion into the debate undertaken by pragmatist authors intends to outline some key elements of the debate, highlighting the main arguments and concepts of this important academic movement.

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the emancipatory ideological character of the Solidarity Economy policy adopted in Brazil between 2002 and 2013 in the light of the concept of social emancipation from a “Marxian” perspective. This study, which is qualitative, was based on the methodological contributions of Godoi, Bandeira-de-Mello e Silva (2006). Initially, classical articles dealing with the concept of emancipation were consulted, such as those by Marx, Engels and Gramsci. Then, it focused on contemporary articles on Solidarity Economy, such as those by Singer, Santos and Barbosa. It was possible to conclude that there is a significant gap between the emancipation proposals outlined by Marx and those that support Solidarity Economy in current standards. This conclusion reveals an ideological change in the movement, which has gone from being independent to allying itself with the State, thus contributing to overcoming problems generated by capitalism, such as unemployment and social inequality and, consequently, to the continuity of the capital system.

Abstract

The present written is about humor. Based on the analysis of exemplary cases that make it possible to debate the subtle transit of humor across the borders of playfulness, social and political criticism and moral insult, the objective is to offer comprehensive clues to those who wish to invest in their critical study. To this end, the material consulted includes audiovisual productions, newspapers and periodicals that are assumed to be humorous/satirical or not. The treatment of these sources considers concepts and problems posed by anthropology and psychoanalysis on the subject.

Keywords: Humor and psychoanalysis. Humor and anthropology. Gender and sexuality. Migrations and refugees.
