Abstract

The current study aimed to examine onset of hyperactivity in autistic children and its relationship with repetitive movements and lack of eye contact. Descriptive correlational method was used to conduct this study. Statistical population included all autistic children in Rash County, Iran who received treatment (n=50). Due to having limited statistical population, statistical sample is considered equal to statistical population. ADHD questionnaires, hyperactivity SNAP-IV forms and Gilliam Autism Rating Scale (GARS) were used to carry out the research. The results of data analysis using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression indicated that there is a positive and meaningful correlation between onset of hyperactivity and repetitive movements (037/0=P ،296/0=r) in which 087/0 of variance of variables in repetitive movements is justified. There is also a positive and meaningful correlation between lack of eye contact and hyperactivity (029/0=P ،309/0=r). Coefficient of determination shows that 095/0 of variance of variables of lack of eye contact is justified by hyperactivity in the model. Based on the level of meaningfulness of independent t-test (319/0=sig) stating that there is no significant difference between the two means of men and women is confirmed.
