A. BAKIKHANOV ON THE IMPORTANCE OF ANALYSIS OF THE HISTORY OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT BASED ON ORIGINAL SOURCES

Abstract
Abbaskulu Aga Bakikhanov was the first scientist who began to generalize historical facts about the science and literature in Azerbaijan in the 19th century. In his studies on the material and spiritual culture of the peoples of the Eastern Caucasus, he gave valuable information about the life and activities of ancient and medieval poets, scholars and religious leaders of Shirvan and Dagestan. This article reviews the rules for compiling history books as described in Abbasgulu Aga Bakikhanov’s book “Gulistani-Iram”, systematizing valuable ideas about the strength and importance of the book, essay, science, knowledge and systems. When writing his research, A. Bakikhanov used numerous data from his developments, as well as studies of Persian, Arab, Turkish and other authors who lived in the Middle Ages. The author also widely used materials from literary monuments and toponymy, numismatics and epigraphy. The world scientific community highly appreciated this work.
