A CADAVERIC STUDY ON LATERAL THORACIC ARTERY
Journal Title: International Journal of Anatomy and Research - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
Introduction: Lateral thoracic artery is one of the branches of second part of axillary artery which arises near the lateral border of pectoralis minor. Aim and Objectives: To study the variations in the origin of Lateral thoracic artery and note its pattern. Materials and methods: 54 axillae from embalmed cadavers allotted for dissection were used for the study. There were 22 male and 5 female cadavers, with ages ranging from 60 to 80 years, specimens of both sides were used. Results: The commonest variation was common trunk for Lateral thoracic artery and Thoracodorsal Artery (9.5%). Conclusion: The study was carried out to show important variations in the branching pattern of lateral thoracic artery, in order to orient the surgeons performing reconstructive plastic surgery and modified radial mastectomy.
LEVEL OF BIFURCATION OF COMMON CAROTID ARTERY AND MORPHOMETRY OF ANTERIOR BRANCHES OF EXTERNAL CAROTID ARTERY: A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY
Background: The common carotid artery (CCA) divides at the level of superior border of thyroid cartilage. The external carotid artery (ECA) is one of the terminal branches of CCA. ECA gives three anterior branches, Super...
ROLE OF CLAVICLE CURVATURES IN FRACTURE STABILISATION: A STUDY IN EAST INDIAN POPULATION
Clavicle is the only long bone which is horizontally placed. These stresses have led to the formation of curvatures, longer medial and shorter lateral curvatures. 70-80% of these fractures occur at the junction of medial...
A QUALITATIVE ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT ATTITUDES TO THE USE OF BODY PAINTING AS A LEARNING TOOL IN FIRST YEAR HUMAN ANATOMY: A PILOT STUDY
Background: The use of body painting as a method of engaging students in the learning of anatomy has been demonstrated as being beneficial to knowledge retention amongst medical students. However, the benefit of the use...
EFFECT OF SYNTHETIC PROGESTERONE (NORETHISTERONE) ON HUMAN CHROMOSOMES: A CYTOGENETIC STUDY FROM INDIA
Birth restriction methods dates back to prehistoric times, half a million years ago. Modern contraceptive methods constitute most contraceptive use. Nearly 800 million married or in-union women are projected to be using...
A CASE REPORT OF BICUSPID AORTIC VALVE WITH REFERENCES TO ANATOMICAL AND EMBRYOLOGICAL ASPECTS
Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the most common malformation in congenital cardiac disease with the prevalence of 1-2%. In Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), the aortic valve has only two cusps instead of three cusps. In this p...
