Journal Title: Türk Uyku Tıbbı Dergisi - Year 2019, Vol 6, Issue 3
Abstract
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a neurodegenerative disease with progressive motor neuron degeneration in primary motor cortex, corticospinal pathways, brain stem and spinal cord. The disease may start with asymmetrical weakness in the arms and legs, hyperreflexia, myolysis, cramps, twitching, fatigue, difficulty in speech and swallowing, emotional lability due to upper and lower motor neuron involvement. Sleep disorders may occur generally during the course of the disease in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Here a case of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis presenting with excessive daytime sleepiness was presented.
