The proportion of de-pression was significantly higher among the elders who gave a previ-ous history (92.13%) of depression. The proportion of elders who re-quire home care was also signifi-cantly associated with depression. Conclusions: Geriatric depression is highly prevalent in thesemiurbana-reas of Melmaruvathur.
