A Comparative Study of Hematological Parameters in Normal and Hypertensive Individuals

Journal Title: International Journal of Physiology - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 1

Abstract

Hypertension isrecognised as a significant public health hazard. Most of the people with primary hypertension have a high systemic vascular resistance with relatively normal cardiac output. Hypertension is associated with risk of stroke, congestive heart failure and disease of small blood vessels with thickening and scarring and chronic renal disease. The aim of the present study is to compare and analyse the relation between blood pressure and hematological parameters in hypertensives and normotensives in Kalaburagiso that it will be a useful predictor of cerebrovascular diseases and coronary artery disease through regular investigations. In the present study, the mean values of Hemoglobin, Erythrocyte count, Hematocrit, MCHC, WBC Count and Platelet count are found to be significantly higher and the mean values of MCV are significantly lower in hypertensives.
