Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Surgery - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 2
Abstract
Background: Inguinal hernia repair is one of the most common surgical procedures in surgery. Hernia repair with transperitoneal approach is a new technique. It is done in two ways with fixation of Mesh and without fixation of Mesh. This study was conducted to compare the two methods for duration of surgery and postoperative complications. Aim and Objective: To compare the non fixation versus fixation of MESH in totally extraperitoneal repair of inguinal hernia Methodology: Total 50 patients with inguinal hernia were randomly allocated in two groups for surgery. Group 1 underwent repair with fixation of Mesh and group 2 underwent surgery without fixation of Mesh. Both groups were compared for duration of surgery, hospital stay and postoperative complications. Results: Both groups were comparable in duration of surgery and hospital stay. Pain at 24 hours postoperative was higher in Group1(fixation) than group 2(non fixation of Mesh)
