A comparative study of psychological well-being, meta-emotion, and resiliency in fertile and infertile women

Abstract
Abstract Background & Aims of the Study: According to the high prevalence of mental problems of infertility in infertile women, and the necessity of identifying their mental statuses to carry out interventions in order to help them, the present study aims a comparative study of psychological well-being, meta-emotion, and resiliency in fertile and infertile women. Materials & Methods: This study is a case-control study. Statistical population of the research includes all the infertile women referring to health centers of city of Gonabad. The sample of the research was 80 infertile women and 80 fertile women who were selected by available sampling method. For gathering data, questionnaires of resiliency, psychological well-being, and meta-emotion were employed. The data of research was analyzed by SPSS software and using a multivariate variance analysis test (MANOVA). Results: Results showed that there is a significant difference between fertile and infertile women in variables of psychological well-being (p<0.01), positive meta-emotion (p<0.05), and resiliency (p<0.01), and in all of these variables the scores of infertile women were lower than fertile women. Conclusion: According to the results of current research that showed the lower levels of psychological well-being, positive meta-emotion, and resiliency in infertile women compared to fertile women, the importance of attention to mental health, senses, and emotions of infertile women appeared more.
