A Framework for Performance Evaluation of Decentralized Eventual Consistency Algorithms
Journal Title: EAI Endorsed Transactions on Collaborative Computing - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 11
Abstract
Eventual Consistency (EC) model is adopted by numerous large-scale distributed systems. To ensure performance and scalability, this model allows any replica to accept updates without remote synchronization. Nowadays, many EC algorithms are developed to control the behavior of the replicated data in the face of concurrent updates. Among them, those using a central server to order the updates, while others support the decentralization. In this paper, we focus on decentralized EC algorithms. Suitability of such algorithms under users and devices constraints such as execution time, memory requirements, messages size and quality of the result remains to be investigated under different conditions. Evaluate such algorithms in different context and under different parameters require a framework. In this paper, we propose a generic framework designed to evaluate diferent decentralized EC algorithms, in diferent context by controlling diferent parameters. Our framework provides a generic simulator that generates a runnable data following diferent parameters.

Critically loaded k-limited polling systems
We consider a two-queue polling model with switch-over times and k-limited service (serve at most ki customers during one visit period to queue i) in each queue. The major benefit of the k-limited service discipline is t...
Lighting controls and energy savings potential in tropical zone
Reducing global energy consumption is a challenge to limit the rise in average earth temperature. The use of lighting controls in the building leads to energy savings. The objective of this study is to evaluate the energ...
Impact on procurement and training by research on the interaction design of medical devices
We present a case study of how research can influence practice in the procurement of healthcare technology based on the CHI+MED project. CHI+MED is concerned with interaction design and the safety of medical devices. It...
An Alert System on the Presence of Myriapods in Peanut Farms in Senegal
In Senegal, agriculture remains one of the most important sectors of the economy and the culture of peanut is one of the pillars in this domain. Unfortunately, the expansion of this culture is constantly hampered by atta...
Automated Dimension Determination for NMF-based Incremental Collaborative Filtering
The nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) based collaborative filtering t e chniques h a ve a c hieved great success in product recommendations. It is well known that in NMF, the dimensions of the factor matrices have t...
