A GENERAL OVERVIEW OF ALTERNATIVE METHODS IN FRENCH LANGUAGE TEACHING
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2017, Vol 10, Issue 49
Abstract
Nowadays, it has become necessary to learn more than one foreign language in order to understand the globalizing world, to be able to interpret better and to follow developments in every area more closely. In this respect, every country has begun to attack more importance to foreign language teaching as part of their education and training policies. This situation is similar in our country. However, it is appearing that we haven’t been able to achieve the desired level of success in language education despite the fact that we have spent a lot of time, energy and time. There are many reasons for this. One of these is the failure to apply the right method. Numerous, assertive, diverse, eclectic approaches, methods and techniques have been put forward in language education for a more effective day-to-day teaching since the early ages. All this is focused on making language education more systematic and more effective. Even though the methods have been influenced by their contemporaneous theories of education and training, they get replaced by the other methods due to social, cultural and technological developments. This study aims at introducing the less known methods of foreign language education in general terms showing their relation with widely known methods and contributing to the steps to be taken in this respect.
