A LITERARY DEBATE WRITTEN IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY: CEMAL EFENDI’S MUHÂVERÂT-I SEYF Ü KALEM

Abstract
There are literary debates entitled muhavere (discourse) in Turkish literature. Cemal Efendi’s Muhâverât-ı Seyf ü Kalem which constitutes the subject of this article is one of them. Muhâverât-ı Seyf ü Kalem is a booklet about the struggle for superiority between pen and sword. This struggle results in compromise with the judgment of the common sense who is a fair judge.
