A model of torque changes during drum granulation

Abstract
The authors present results of investigations of a granulated bed dynamics during agglomeration in rotating drum. Experiments were made in drum granulator of diameter D = 0.4 m. The variable parameters were: drum filling with raw material k in the range from 5 to 20% of inner drum volume and rotational speed of the drum in the range n = 13 to 25 rpm. During granulation the torque values was measured on the granulator shaft. Every 2 minutes a sample was taken from the drum. The angle of natural repose, coefficient of friction and bulk density of the product were determined. A equation describing the change of torque values during granulation process was proposed.
