A MODIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF SPRAY PATTERNATOR

Abstract

Indiscriminate use of agrochemicals affects the ecological balance, resulting in resistance against pesticides, environment pollution, some residual effects and pest resurgence. Over application can be wasteful and costly; under application can result in reapplication. Suitable equipment, and effective and efficient techniques for its use are as important as the technical or biological agent itself. The above problem can be minimized by selecting proper spray nozzles that have s good working order. Hydraulic nozzles are traditionally made in brass and stainless steel, but hardware engineering plastics are also commonly used. On all the hydraulic nozzles, the pressure of liquid at the orifice have an effect on the flow rate, spray angle and the droplet spectra produced. To determine the various parameters influencing the performance of spray nozzles scientific study was required to consider appropriate protocols, standards and scientific experimental test set-up with test methods. A hydraulic pump and its drive was designed and fabricated to supply liquid into the spraying system. For this, a pump of 2 lit/min capacity and rated speed of 21strokes/min was selected on the basis of flow requirement, operating pressure and availability. To drive the pump, V- belt, pulleys and spur gears were selected according to the requirement. On the running no load condition discharge of the pump was measured as 2 liters per minute.
