A Modified Image Fusion Approach Using Guided Filter

Abstract

A modified image fusion method using guided filter is proposed to combine images to give final fused image which contain the information common in input images as well as present in either of them. The proposed method adopts simple two scale image decomposition. Focusing on spatial context of images, guided image filter is used to preserve edge information which is uncommon in other methods. The results drawn show the effectiveness of the proposed method. In this paper, on the basis of results, the proposed method is compared with other two methods.
